1) What does “making your move” mean to you at this stage of your career?
After 22 years in the industry, I believe that “making your move” means staying current with the rapidly changing landscape of our industry. It’s essential to avoid the mindset that you can remain stagnant and still be competitive and valuable to your company and clients. There is always something new to learn every day. As the industry evolves, you must evolve as well.
2) Can you share a moment when you took action that moved your career forward?
I was presented with an exciting opportunity to join an industry association, thanks to a very supportive mentor of mine. This role was going to take me completely out of my comfort zone, but I knew I had to embrace the chance to grow. It’s not just my personal growth that matters; the development I gain also helps me in my role at Money Pages®. I take this responsibility seriously because I want to be the best I can be, both for myself and for the company.
3) What helped you recognize the right time to make that move?
My mentor gave me a gentle nudge. She understood that I was unlikely to make that leap on my own, so she mentioned my name to the group and informed me that she had done so. Without that encouragement, I don’t think I would have recognized how beneficial that move could be for me.
4) What advice would you give women in print who are considering their next move?
Embrace the leap; the destination is often unknown but full of potential. The initial discomfort will gradually shift to a routine, and soon, you’ll find comfort in it. Eventually, you’ll recognize your growth and discover your ability to uplift others. Yes, it can be intimidating, but that fear fades quickly. You may even find joy in activities that once caused you anxiety! If it doesn’t work out, remember that trying something new is a victory in itself. You’ll gain invaluable lessons and banish any lingering “what ifs.”
What has your experience with Girls Who Print meant to you so far?
I haven’t been as involved with Girls Who Print as I would like to be, but I have focused on networking online. Most of this has been through the LinkedIn group, as I’m not always able to leave the office. Despite my limited participation, I’ve been able to connect with other strong women in the print industry for advice, which has been invaluable!
