What does “making your move” mean to you at this stage of your career?

Making your move means facing your challenges and fears and continuing forward with a clear vision—for the industry, the association, and most importantly, for yourself. As part of a small staff, bringing in someone without the same history or protective connection to the association felt uncertain. It required me to step outside my comfort zone, take the lead, and actively connect with both members and non-members to strengthen and grow the association. Growth doesn’t happen in comfort—it happens in motion.

2) Can you share a moment when you took action that moved your career forward?

Pulling my resume together and applying for the President’s position ahead of the planned retirement in April 2025 was a defining moment. It required me to recognize my own value, reflect on my decades of experience, and be willing to step forward into leadership.

3) What helped you recognize the right time to make that move?

Our members. Their faith in me, their trust in my commitment, and their belief in what I bring to the industry gave me the confidence to take that step. Knowing that the people you serve believe in you makes all the difference.

4) What advice would you give women in print who are considering their next move?

Don’t stop moving forward—you are the only one who can truly stand in your own way. Others will always have opinions about what you should or shouldn’t do, and what you can or cannot do. Remember, your power is in knowing your value. Your strength begins with two words: I AM.
