1) What does “making your move” mean to you at this stage of your career?
At this stage of my career, “making your move” is less about changing roles and more about expanding impact. Early in my career, growth meant learning skills and gaining experience. Today, it means using that experience to influence strategy, elevate others, and help shape the future of our industry.
Making your move now is about stepping into leadership with intention: contributing ideas, driving innovation, and helping organizations evolve while supporting the next generation entering print and packaging. It’s recognizing that experience carries responsibility, not just opportunity.
2) Can you share a moment when you took action that moved your career forward?
One defining moment was when my role naturally began expanding beyond traditional marketing responsibilities into internal communications, brand strategy, and organizational initiatives. Rather than waiting for a formal title change, I leaned into the opportunity and started building structure where none existed: developing programs, strengthening communication channels, and aligning marketing more closely with business strategy.
That decision shifted my career from executing marketing tasks to helping influence how the organization communicates, grows, and positions itself in the market. It taught me that career progression often happens when you step forward before you’re officially asked to.
3) What helped you recognize the right time to make that move?
The right time became clear when I realized I was already doing the work; I just hadn’t fully owned it yet.
There’s a moment many professionals experience when responsibilities evolve faster than titles do. Recognizing that gap helped me understand that waiting for permission can sometimes slow growth. Instead, I focused on demonstrating value, solving problems, and contributing at a higher level consistently.
Confidence didn’t come first – clarity did. Once I saw where I could make a meaningful impact, the timing made sense.
4) What advice would you give women in print who are considering their next move?
Don’t wait until you feel completely ready; growth rarely happens inside comfort zones.
The printing industry offers incredible opportunities for women willing to raise their hand, share ideas, and step into spaces where they may not see many people like themselves yet. Your perspective is valuable precisely because it is different.
Build relationships, stay curious, and focus on understanding the business beyond your immediate role. The women who advance in this industry are often the ones who connect creativity with operational understanding and strategic thinking.
Most importantly, advocate for yourself. Your career will move forward the moment you recognize that your voice belongs at the table.
