1) What does “making your move” mean to you at this stage of your career?
At this stage of my career, “making my move” means expanding both my knowledge and my impact within an industry I’ve been part of for years. I started in operations and understand what real production environments look and feel like, which is why I’m so driven to keep learning and growing rather than standing still.
For me, it’s about moving beyond execution and stepping more fully into strategy, helping shape messaging, aligning leadership teams, and ensuring that what we say in the market reflects what actually happens on the floor. It’s also about coming full circle, working with organizations I’ve known in different capacities and earning their trust in a new role. Making my move now isn’t about changing direction; it’s about elevating the level at which I contribute and continuing to grow in an industry I genuinely care about.
2) Can you share a moment when you took action that moved your career forward?
The biggest leap I ever took was walking away from the corporate world and deciding to work for myself. It was uncomfortable and uncertain, but I believed I could build something on my own terms, and that belief changed everything.
Since making that decision, I’ve grown more than I ever would have in a traditional role. I’m working alongside incredible teams, contributing across multiple companies, and playing a strategic role in shaping messaging and growth. Instead of fitting into one lane, I’ve been able to expand my impact, and that shift has been the most defining move of my career so far.
3) What helped you recognize the right time to make that move?
I realized it was time to make a move when I started dreading going to work. I was using all my PTO in the first few months of the year and looking for any reason not to be there. I found myself trying to stay under the radar just to avoid criticism from someone who didn’t truly understand the work I was doing, and I hated having to justify time off for a sick child or a doctor’s appointment.
The biggest sign was that I no longer felt any joy in what I was doing, and print is truly a passion of mine. It had become something I did purely for a paycheck, and that was not the example I wanted to set for myself or my boys. Once I recognized that disconnect, the decision became clearer.
4) What advice would you give women in print who are considering their next move?
I would tell them not to wait for the perfect moment, because it rarely shows up the way you expect it to. There will always be a reason to stay comfortable, to delay, or to convince yourself that the timing is not right. At some point, you have to decide whether the move aligns with where you want to go, not whether every variable is perfectly lined up.
If, in a scenario where fear and logistics were removed, you would still choose that next step, then you already have your answer. Trust that, prepare as best you can, and move forward.
What has your experience with Girls Who Print meant to you so far?
I absolutely love this program. I was fortunate to meet Kelly and Deb during a major transition in my career, and their advice and perspective were invaluable at a time when I truly needed them. Knowing I could pick up the phone, ask a question, and get honest guidance made a bigger difference than I can put into words.
Girls Who Print creates space for connection and support in an industry where it’s easy for a woman to feel like an outsider. Being part of a community of women who understand the challenges and are willing to share their experience has been both grounding and empowering for me.
