mission and programs, global organization for women in print, girls who print global organization

The Girls Who Print mission and programs empower women working in the print and graphic communications industry worldwide, inspiring leadership through education, career development, dynamic events, and community support.

Girls Who Print supports women in the industry as they build sustainable, successful careers in a traditionally male-dominated environment. Our focus is on retention, advancement, visibility, and leadership, ensuring women have the resources, relationships, and confidence needed to progress into positions of influence.

Through education, professional development, and connection, Girls Who Print creates opportunities for women to strengthen their skills, expand their networks, and shape the future of print from roles that matter. We are committed to helping women not only stay in the industry, but lead it.

Gender Inequality in the Workplace Remains a Significant Global Issue

Globally, women participate in the labor force at a rate of just 47 percent, compared to 72 percent for men, highlighting a significant gap of 25 percentage points. This disparity limits opportunity, restricts economic growth, and reduces access to leadership roles across industries worldwide. Source: International Labour Organization (ILO)

Within the print and graphic communications industry, these challenges are compounded by underrepresentation, slower advancement, and fewer pathways into positions of influence. Addressing inequality requires more than awareness. It requires sustained, practical support for women navigating real workplace environments.

Girls Who Print supports women once they are in the industry, including students enrolled in print-related educational programs and early-career professionals entering the workforce. We work with high schools, universities, technical programs, and educators worldwide to strengthen career retention and advancement.

Through mentorship, professional development, and online and in-person events, Girls Who Print connects women with experienced professionals who help them navigate a male-dominated industry. Our focus is on building confidence, clarity, and long-term career momentum so women can remain in the industry and grow into positions of influence.

Despite Significant Strides in Many Areas, Women Remain Vastly Underrepresented in Leadership Positions Worldwide

Women occupy only 32 percent of senior roles and hold just 6.2 percent of CEO positions in major companies, reflecting a persistent imbalance at the highest levels of decision-making.

This gap is not a reflection of capability or ambition. It highlights structural barriers that limit visibility, slow advancement, and restrict access to leadership opportunities. Without intentional platforms and pathways, women’s expertise and contributions too often remain unseen.

For nearly two decades, Girls Who Print has created opportunities for women in the print and graphic communications industry to be seen, heard, and recognized for their leadership, expertise, and impact.

Through initiatives such as Women’s Print HerStory Month, Fierce Fabulous Fridays, and our annual events, we elevate women’s voices and share their stories globally.

That visibility is reinforced through The ARC, Girls Who Print’s professional development and resource hub, and Print University, which provides ongoing skill-building and leadership education. Together, these programs support women as they move from participation into positions of influence, ensuring access to education, peer connection, and real-world insight that supports long-term career advancement.

Gender Inequality in the Global Workforce Still Demands Action

Within the print and graphic communications industry, these disparities often appear as underrepresentation, slower advancement, and fewer pathways into positions of influence. Addressing inequality requires sustained, practical support for women navigating real workplace environments.

In a male-dominated industry, women must have both the support of allies and a leadership table of their own. Meaningful change happens when women hold positions of influence and are able to shape decisions that affect hiring, compensation, culture, and growth.

Girls Who Print has created this table. Since 2009, we have supported women with education, information, and resources that help them advance into leadership roles, including hiring managers, business owners, and executives. Through skill-building workshops, access to experts, and a global member community, GWP helps women expand their networks, strengthen their leadership capabilities, and move into positions of real impact.
